Imagery
Images and videos play an essential role in communicating the VTT brand and getting our message out. Our overall image style is clean, documentary and genuine. We want to bring hope and show the raw beauty of the everyday life.
All VTT images should have a natural, journalistic touch and they should focus on telling a powerful but positive story: everyday situations in a truthful context, real people with real emotions or tech-driven product and service imagery from our real locations, R&D infrastructure and expertise. Whenever possible, try to capture some of the brand colours in the imagery.
If you are illustrating urban environments, cities or nature, use Finnish and Nordic landscapes and lifestyle imagery. Choose clean nature, blue skies, green forests and modern buildings. If you illustrate networks or connectivity that cannot be seen, use light pulses instead of connected vector dots and lines.
Minor photo retouching is allowed to enhance the overall appearance of an image, but strive for authenticity and avoid all unnatural effects. AI generated images work well, when there is a need to show something that cannot be shown in real pictures; things that are not yet real or possible, or things that go beyond the obvious. When creating AI images, follow the same brand guidance to create natural and photorealistic images, and mention the use of AI.
Image don'ts
VTT’s imagery should never look too staged, artificial or unnatural. Avoid stereotypes and clichés, clearly photoshopped elements, drop shadows or other artificial effects, exaggerated lighting, haziness, polluted air or dark and gloomy atmosphere. When illustrating people or activities, avoid too staged setups and motion blur.
When in doubt, think about whether everyday activities look ideally like this.
